It’s a weird feeling that up to this minute i’m still awe-strucked with IMAX and can’t get over with the episode. Last saturday was my first IMAX experience (courtesy of Birthday Boy Kuya Kim) together with good old (and some new) friends.

We’ve decided to feel the 3D experience via the arid Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the 6th of the Harry Potter movie series. The 3D part lasted for like 25 drooling minutes, worth every penny if you ask me. The IMAX MOA has the largest screen in the country, which makes the 3D experience a little over the edge.

On to the movie review and enough with the IMAX blah. For some reason, i didn’t expect much from the story as i’ve read the book years ago. The film was ok, though some areas we’re boring and dragging not to forget the unforgivable skipping of important parts of the book.

There were some areas of the story that were obviously added. The Death Eater attack in The Burrow was not in the book, and yes, the burning of The Burrow wasn’t at all part of the original story. It should be Tonks and not Luna who found Harry in the train. Dumbledore meeting/threatening the Dursleys was not in the Movie. It would be interesting seeing Albus talking to Petunia. LOL. Plus the whole dark secret of Albus Dumbledore being skipped. A big time downer.

If i remember it right, there’s a big fight scene before Dumbledore died. We only got a portion of it. That’s the best they can do? I was expecting a major showdown of magic, we got a Draco-disarming-Albus scene instead.

The revelation of the identity of the Half Blood Prince should have been the highlight of the movie, next to Dumbledore’s death of course, besides the title of the movie is Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, not Harry Potter and Ginny Weasleys Pink Panties.

Anyway, we can’t expect the director recreating the entirety of the book to be in the movie or we’d be stuck in the movie house for days. So let it be. Maybe they have reasons and the inserted scenes will play a big role in the last two HP movies.

Movie effects were great, cinematography was perfect. IMAX was awesome. A saturday pa-morningan blues with friends plus a cup of coffee. Classic!

For fans like me, the most anticipating part would be the death of Albus Dumbledore, not to mention the funeral at kung sino man ang papatay sa kanya, hulaan n’yo.. :whistle: . If you’ve read the book then kilala nyo na rin kung sino ang Half Blood Prince. This sequel is a prelude to what’s gonna happen on the last movie installment.

Most questions will be answered of course by the last book. I recommend that you read the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as well. Malupit to.

JK Rowling outs Dumbledore as gay

Harry Potter author JK Rowling has revealed that one of her characters, Hogwarts school headmaster Albus Dumbledore, is gay.

She made her revelation to a packed house in New York’s Carnegie Hall on Friday, as part of her US book tour.

She took audience questions and was asked if Dumbledore found “true love”.

“Dumbledore is gay,” she said, adding he was smitten with rival Gellert Grindelwald, who he beat in a battle between good and bad wizards long ago.

The audience gasped, then applauded. “I would have told you earlier if I knew it would make you so happy,” she said.

“Falling in love can blind us to an extent,” she added, saying Dumbledore was “horribly, terribly let down” and his love for Grindelwald was his “great tragedy”.

“Oh, my god,” Rowling, 42, concluded with a laugh, “the fan fiction”.

Fan sites have long speculated on Dumbledore’s sexuality as he was known for having a mysterious, troubled past.

Rowling told the audience that while working on the planned sixth Potter film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, she saw the script carried a reference to a girl who was once of interest to Dumbledore.

She said she ensured director David Yates was made aware of the truth about her character.

Gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell welcomed the news about Dumbledore and said: “It’s good that children’s literature includes the reality of gay people, since we exist in every society.

“But I am disappointed that she did not make Dumbledore’s sexuality explicit in the Harry Potter book. Making it obvious would have sent a much more powerful message of understanding and acceptance.”

And a spokesman for gay rights group Stonewall added: “It’s great that JK has said this. It shows that there’s no limit to what gay and lesbian people can do, even being a wizard headmaster.”

Rowling also did a brief reading from the seventh book in her best-selling series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, as part of her Open Book Tour of the US – her first there for seven years.

She said she regarded her novels as a “prolonged argument for tolerance” and urged her fans to “question authority”.

But she added that not everyone likes her work. Christian groups have alleged the books promote witchcraft. The author said her revelation about Dumbledore would give them one more reason.

The seventh Potter book broke sales records on both sides of the Atlantic when it was published in July, selling 11 million copies in 24 hours.

The fifth film adaptation of the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was released this summer. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is due for release late next year.
