who says a 23 year old (read: 23   ) yuppie can’t enjoy animated movies like these?

i’ve been working on this video for days now to be posted as my opening salvo for 2010. natapos din sa wakas… pagkatapos ng ilang pagpupuyat. i will be posting this vid on a different entry, password locked of course.

JANUARY
a month of tears. a month of regeneration. a month of moving on. a love lost on the first month of 2009. giving up for someone you loved so dearly isn’t elementary. until i managed to put a step forward, like a baby learning how to walk. a step at a time, until you realize that you’re walking again.. moving forward.. sprinting to a new finish line.

FEBRUARY
healing is certain. the body will heal. the soul will recover. the heart will continue to beat. dating someone helped me recover from a past heartbreak. i dated. yes. but no serious thingy about anything. i learned to continue with something real called life.

MARCH
sleep issues. i’ve been having less and less sleep every single day the past few months. march was another leap as i managed to give priority to a thing i value most, sleep. on that note, i have required myself to wake up early and be on time for work every single day. i got a Perfect Attendance for this month in my company, something i didn’t expect. but issues with my regularization as an employee with this company i am working with came along. thought i didn’t deserve another contract.

APRIL
Holy week. a trip with good friends to Sagada. nth travel to VIGAN. a week long vacation with my family. a month like no other. April was a blast. ’nuff said.

MAY
the heartbreaker. the offer. the contract. a former flame came back to recover a friendship lost. tried to bring back things like they used to but realized in the end that drinking from a broken goblet glass will just puncture your lips more. i got an offer from a boss overseas.. thought of it a million times but decided to just stay with the current. got a new contract with this company.

JUNE
i remember YOU. i remember asking you – “Anong oras na Jan?” It was june 6.

JULY
you start to fancy this person. then a blockade starts to build before your very eyes. there’s nothing you can do but watch it build up. there’s nothing you can do but be left behind. i remembering playing “Wall in your heart” because it fits what the heart tells me. july is the month when i created my twitter account.

AUGUST
travel month. First time in Quezon. Second time in Palawan. a post birthday celebration

SEPTEMBER
birthday month. a month of grieving. just when the celebration heats up. a bad news came in. the passing of a mom who loved her son’s so dearly. it was the saddest day of my life. with her untimely death, i came to know her more based on stories from people i rarely talk to. moving on was hard. finances got screwed.

OCTOBER
travel going home was almost weekly. henyetah worked double time. a moving on month. a much deserved out of the country trip was canceled because of financial and scheduling problems. October like no other. a renewed friendship with the heart-breaker.

NOVEMBER
the first All Saints Day for my mom. life is now normal.

DECEMBER
last month. nothing new really. will be celebrating Christmas eve with friends. New years with family.

so there. a review for 2009 na walang kwenta.

THE ALTRUIST
- an open-handed individual, too generous to other people herself comes last on the list.
- a woman with a big heart.
- fully grown mentally and emotionally.
- smart.
- needs some knocking on the head to wake her up and make her realize that loving oneself isn’t being selfish at all.
- has a good soul, literally.
- climbed the giant rocks of Sagada’s caves like a man without fear.

THE TACTITIAN
- too organized, planning is one his greatest strengths automatically making him an MS EXCEL slave.
- free spirited.
- resilient.
- smart and casual.
- forgiving isn’t a bad idea. bitterness is but fine… and moving on from a love lost should start now. lol.
- a virgin. or maybe not.
- an out of town trip is not complete without his mastered jump shots.

THE STARGAZER
- full of dreams, too eager to do everything.
- always missing the boat. needs some work with time. unpunctual.
- carefree but idealistic.
- loves to taunt everyone with their weaknesses. it’s not a bad thing mind you.
- very opinionated about films. old filipino films that is.
- never ran out of topics to talk about. he talks too much. *rolls eyes*
- drawing maps isn’t really his talent. I’d rather hear him sing. NOT!

THE COMPLICATED
- too much hidden issues on this kid.
- him alone and his one thousand and one excuses.
- being punctual means death.
- clear as dishwater.
- extra-ordinarily abnoy. lols

Another is an error i was able to correct. It took me 3hours to rectify that fukin bug. I even tried removing some scripts just to locate the problem. Pahamak na MS Expression Web na yan.

It’s a weird feeling that up to this minute i’m still awe-strucked with IMAX and can’t get over with the episode. Last saturday was my first IMAX experience (courtesy of Birthday Boy Kuya Kim) together with good old (and some new) friends.

We’ve decided to feel the 3D experience via the arid Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the 6th of the Harry Potter movie series. The 3D part lasted for like 25 drooling minutes, worth every penny if you ask me. The IMAX MOA has the largest screen in the country, which makes the 3D experience a little over the edge.

On to the movie review and enough with the IMAX blah. For some reason, i didn’t expect much from the story as i’ve read the book years ago. The film was ok, though some areas we’re boring and dragging not to forget the unforgivable skipping of important parts of the book.

There were some areas of the story that were obviously added. The Death Eater attack in The Burrow was not in the book, and yes, the burning of The Burrow wasn’t at all part of the original story. It should be Tonks and not Luna who found Harry in the train. Dumbledore meeting/threatening the Dursleys was not in the Movie. It would be interesting seeing Albus talking to Petunia. LOL. Plus the whole dark secret of Albus Dumbledore being skipped. A big time downer.

If i remember it right, there’s a big fight scene before Dumbledore died. We only got a portion of it. That’s the best they can do? I was expecting a major showdown of magic, we got a Draco-disarming-Albus scene instead.

The revelation of the identity of the Half Blood Prince should have been the highlight of the movie, next to Dumbledore’s death of course, besides the title of the movie is Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, not Harry Potter and Ginny Weasleys Pink Panties.

Anyway, we can’t expect the director recreating the entirety of the book to be in the movie or we’d be stuck in the movie house for days. So let it be. Maybe they have reasons and the inserted scenes will play a big role in the last two HP movies.

Movie effects were great, cinematography was perfect. IMAX was awesome. A saturday pa-morningan blues with friends plus a cup of coffee. Classic!

Went home very late.. oh yeah.. i don’t even remember how i got home, what i do remember is that i stopped by at a sari-sari store to light up a yosi… kasi lasheng nga, i thought Henyetah’s window was broken ‘coz i can’t seem to close it, thinking that the store is just a few steps away, i left the car with its window open. I should be vigilant i said, else Henyetah’s gone for good, me left standing there with a stick of yosi i can’t even enjoy. Laughed at myself minutes after because i realized that i shut off the engine hence the non-working power window. funny.

i slept at around 6am, without even taking time to undress myself before going to bed. woke up at exactly 10am with a headache trying to kill my ass off. still dizzy, sleepy and disoriented, i got up. Hangover i said. Thought i could shake it off with a cup of coffee, but no, so i made another one. without any luck, i decided to have an early lunch. then take a paracetamol. you know how it works. i hate taking pills so i shrug the thought off. i said i can bear with it as long as i keep myself busy.

just a few minutes in ym, got an invitation from a very good friend. said a hot soup would heal the hungover. not thinking that it’s a weekend, that i still need to do my laundry, dishes and clean up the mess in my room i made a few days ago. i said yes immediately inviting the same people i’m with a few hours ago. 30 minutes after, i found myself picking up my friends again to go to binondo for the soup a friend promised. i can almost taste the chinese “hot and sour” soup i’ve been craving for months now.

we met up with another friend in manda so we could transfer to his car. parking is a test of patience in binondo so we decided to use his car. he offered his, he knows the in’s and out’s of the city so who am i to complain?

my second time in ongpin. first time in 168 mall. first time in intramuros. though raining, the day was fun-filled with friends who disgust monotony. i spent the whole day nursing a hungover with a headache that won’t go away. but it was worth it. had a very heavy dinner, and yes the soup was there.

the dream i had a while ago was sipping a chinese hot and sour soup, but had a large bowl of white chicken mami instead. so much with my crappy imagination. but i had a roasted duck for dinner. come on!!!?! walking every now and then inside the city limits requires me to refuel more than usual. I need a big meal to compensate the depression of having a dirty feet, a 168-binondo dirty feet. lols.

I slept 12midnight hoping this headache fades away the next day. woke up very early… just imagine yourself waking up at 5am realizing the fact that if i sleep at exactly 12midnight would mean waking up 5hours later without any choice but get up and fancy the young day ahead.

I decided to sleep more and ignored the peeping sun rays trying to fry my face that moment. A smile came after because my head is already clear, meaning the headache’s gone, only to discover that it came back after a few sips of my coffee while checking mails in front of my computer.

It’s gonna be a long day ahead. But hey, a superb saturday gig plus a rainy sunday trip i wouldn’t trade for a luxurious weekend sleep. another great weekend on the list.
