The Sagada Chronicles (Part 3)

continued from The Sagada Chronicles (Part 2)

So the saga(da) continues. We finished a hefty lunch around 2:30 or 3pm. May lasheng pang nangungulit while waiting for our orders to be served. He was friendly pero lasing. Sabi nga nila.. magbiro ka na sa lasing.. wag lang sa bagong gising na lasing.. :glee: . Can you imagine that? it’s only 2pm pero happy hour na agad. We immediately left Kimchi House after paying the bill. Tas kumausap na kami ng Tour Guide.

It’s a good thing they have skilled native tour guides within the area as they know the do’s and don’ts, basta makinig sa Tour Guides.. kung ayaw nyo masaktan. First stop is the CAVE CONNECTION (Burial Cave and the Sumaguing Cave Connection) According some natives.. it’s a 20 minute walk away from town, but you have an option to rent a Van or a Jeep for a conservative amount. Mga 400 pesos yata. We decided to get a ride. We started our caving via the Burial Cave. The experience was tough… though i’m used to adventures like these.

A short note: when i was a kid, biglang magkakayayaan ang tropa to visit and trek nearby mountains until we reach a certain point na di na namin pwede puntahan. I was on my teens then, mga 12 to 14 years old ako nun, and now that i’m 18.. .. (walang kokontra!) brings back old trippings.. nakakamiss din pala ung kabataan ko.

This is my first time to do a caving. I visited some caves before, may maluwang, may madilim, may magubat at may basa.. :naughty: but this one.. parang iba.. because you have to like trek and walk your life to the next cave exit for 3 to 4 hours. Inside the cave are formations of stalactites or stalagmites or whatever.. caladryl, loperamide.. pareho parehong tunog lang yan. There are so many activities that you can do while inside the cave depending on how resourceful you guys are.. may rock climbing, rappelling, crawling, some swimming and lots of hiking, kami? we decided to work on a single activity… mag photo op.. Nah.. syempre we did all that except the swimming part kasi tuyot ang kweba, ok.. that didn’t sound well. It took us almost 4 hours to finish the activity.. this one is a must when you visit sagada. Budget your 4oo pesos for a very thrilling caving activity i’m sure you wouldn’t dare forget this for the rest of your life.. ‘wag ung standard caving lang.. kasi sayang ang punta sa sagada pag di nyo ‘to nasubukan. Wala namang mawawala eh, mababalian ka lang naman ng buto o kaya mababagok ang ulo mo kung sakaling magkamali ka ng kapit. 400 per head ung Cave Connection, and you will be assisted by two guides.. the spelunking will last for 4 to 6 hours depending on how skilled your team mates are. Kami 3-4 hours lang.

It was a very fulfilling experience.. If by chance, i visit Sagada the second time… i’d want to experience the Cave connection again. We finished at around 6pm already.. so we need to go back and re charge, replenish the energy lost… fuel more.. energize.. in short.. KUMAIN NG MARAMI!

We decided to eat dinner at Yoghurt House. Mahaba ang pila. Tomguts na ang mga hinayupak. :bop: Di na makakapaghintay. The guy from Yoghurt House said, if we could wait a little longer.. pangatlo ata kami sa pila. We decided to have dinner at Haddeku’s instead, based from a recommendation of a hottie having dessert in Yoghurt House. It’s a nearby resto so ok lang din.

Servings were… uh.. a bit generous. Pinikpikan sana para native na native but time was short so we didn’t get to pre-order. Di na rin nasunod ang itinakda ni itinerary. I ordered Sinigang na Baboy. Their rice were… a bit different, di sya brown eh, may black bits so i dunno. But it looks yummy anyway, bottomline.. ayun ubos. Talap! After dinner.. we opted to just stay in the Hotel (or Hostel, whatever.. isang letter lang naman ang difference), bukod sa may curfew ang hotel.. there’s no night life in this side of the earth. Kwentuhan na lang hanggang sa makatulog.

to be continued…
