Smileys Drama

When i upgraded all blog accounts in my server with the nifty Wordpress 2.5, some plugins obviously went berserk. Here’s an exclusive! Some plugins that i use are not compatible with Wordpress 2.5, and that’s frustrating.
Say for example, my WP-GRINS plugin does not show up in the Admin and in the Comments area. Therefore, visitors and me won’t have direct access to the smilies that i’ve added, unless you type the smiley code manually in the write post area or comment, which i think makes my newly acquired smilies useless as not all users really do know how to include such. Therefore i have to wait for the Author of WP-GRINS to update the plugin.
This is the point where you readers start crying. Hehe. Nah! My WP-GRINS plugin is now working, so wipe those tears and celebrate with me.
I visited Alex King’s blog to see if there’s some help that i could use to … yeah … hack on his code to make his plugin work on my blog. So i did a little bit of reading, which i don’t usually do. Did some code comparison, some uploads and some code searching.
Supplies! Supplies! I got it working. Finally. Talk about luck! and some skills… the last one was a lie. What i did is that i’ve overwritten the prototype.js located in the wp-includes/js with the one attached to the wp-grins plugin archive. As simple as that.
But then again, most of you does not even care with the update that i did anyway, as long as it’s working. So i’m shutting up.
