‘Friendster’ picture puts female cop in hot water
A 30-YEAR-OLD policewoman assigned to the office of National Police Chief Oscar Calderon faces grave misconduct charges for posting a photo of herself wearing only a red bra on a Friendster Web page.

The National Police Commission did not identify the woman, but confirmed she was on Calderon’s staff in Camp Crame.

‘She is on leave,” said Dir. Eduardo Castro of the commission’s investigation service.

“We will summon her and require her to explain,” Castro said, noting that she could be dismissed for conduct unbecoming of an officer and grave misconduct.

Castro said the action seemed to be a clear violation of the police department’s ethical standards but urged journalists to respect her privacy while the investigation was going on.

The National Police learned of the woman’s Friendster page when Corazon Santos, who introduced herself as a mother of two in Cainta, Rizal, sent an e-mail complaint saying her 9-year-old son had stumbled upon the photo, a close-up shot of a woman in a red bra.

The attached photo bore the caption, “May ipagmamalaki ka ba?”

The policewoman, who had the user name “Queen Rubie,” graduated from Misamis University in 1999. Her account’s photo gallery also contained photographs of her in police uniform.

“I know that this is beyond your control already, but she is carrying the name of your organization… She, as a police officer, must be responsible for her actions,” Santos said. Ferdinand Fabella
